I'm honestly not sure why I haven't been able to get a blog off the ground before now. Especially since I am a person who truly processes what I learn, see, do, and THINK when I write. It seems it (blogging) would be a natural fit. I am active on Twitter and always sharing things in real life as well as digitally. The culprit here is prioritizing. I have never been able to prioritize the action of blogging. But I am trying now to practice what I have known all along - blogging, at least for me, will not be about the act of putting a blog "out there" but about processing my thoughts and learning experiences. And, that I can prioritize. Well, I am going to try really hard to prioritize! We'll see what happens.
As a former instructional coach that focused on technology integration, I have helped many people (educators and learners) start blogs. One of the things I always talked to them about before starting the blog was knowing what the purpose of their blog was. Is it a journal? A way to share your successes or ideas with others? A way to communicate with parents? Knowing what your purpose is will help guide you. Well, my purpose (I think) will change over time. Right now my purpose is to just get started. Just get step one down. Blog. About anything. Develop the habit. Develop an appreciation. Over time, I think and hope and clearer focus will come into being.
All of that to say - if you start following my blog... who knows what you will get. It will be like a variety show with the potential to have one completely unrelated scene follow another.
Mostly, I just want to reflect and am not aiming to garner bunches and oodles of followers. I just want to process my thoughts and see what happens. I am now an Assistant Principal at a middle school in North Texas. As an AP, you never know what the next hour will hold for you. Maybe, I am modeling my blog after my new normal. ;)
